Today we introduced the Cornell University style of note taking and I have started using it in class to present solutions. We covered 2 questions on Argand diagram and modulus of complex numbers. Class notes are uploaded (click here). HW Sec 3.5 Q.1 and 5. |

This afternoon we finally had our second test on Algebra 2.
HW tonight is Complex Numbers Section 3.3 Q. 4 & 5. (Solutions here) Class has decided to put test on Monday.
Today we learned about Complex Equations that "Real = Real" and "Im = Im" Homework 3.3 Q.6-8 For class summary and solutions click here. Today in class we looked over how to evaluate powers of i by comparing them to i to the power of 4. Then we looked at conjugates and complex division. (Class notes uploaded) HW Sec. 3.2 Q 12-13 and Sec. 3.3 Q.1-3.
No class tomorrow due to some tragic Scottish bloke! But be ready for Algebra 2 test on Friday. Today in class we looked again at the Hierarchy of Numbers. We then looked at the first 3 examples from section 3.2 and tried a number of examples in class. HW is from 3.2 some of the questions show how the quadratic equation may generate imaginary roots. (Class notes and HW questions uploaded)
Today we looked at number systems, prime numbers, natural numbers, integers, rational & irrational numbers, surds, real numbers and we introduced imaginary (i numbers) and complex numbers (have real and imaginary part) See Chapter 3 Sec 3.1 & 3.2. HW p.100 Q.1,3,4,5. (Solutions now uploaded)
A letter to Parents seeking permission to allow members of this class partake in an TL21 (Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century) Action Research Project was also distributed in this class. The class decided to have a second test on Algebra 2 on Friday. |
