Assignment for June 2013 - Theorems and Constructions

Part A
Learn how to do the 22 constructions on the Leaving Certificate Higher Level Syllabus.
You will require a mathematical set with a compass, ruler, protractor and set square to practice these for yourselves.

Part B
Learn the 3 theorems (11, 12 & 13) on the course 
When you have completed Assignment 1 please submit the form at the bottom of this page.

To learn the 3 theorems on the Leaving Cert. Higher Level Course
Then practice writing out the 3 theorems without looking!
Keep a copy of your handwritten theorems on A4 pages (stapled) to be handed up in September

Theorem 11: If three parallel lines cut off equal segments on some transversal line, then they will cut off equal segments on any other transversal.
Theorem 11 (HL) or Theorem 11 (HL) - Alternative Proof 
Theorem 12: Let ABC be a triangle. If a line l is parallel to BC and cuts [AB] in the ratio s : t, then it also cuts [AC] in the same ratio.
Theorem 12 (HL) 
Theorem 13: If two triangles ABC and  are similar, then their sides are proportional, in order.
