Pythagoras (c. 570–495 BC)
Pythagoras was an ancient Greek mathematician and philosopher best known for the theorem which bears his name: in a right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides. His ideas laid the foundations for trigonometry, Euclidean geometry and the distance formula — concepts used throughout the Leaving Certificate syllabus.
Trigonometry - Need to solve triangles, derive identities and understand graphs.
